NIE
In Spain, everyone has an assigned tax number for when they do their yearly
tax return and for any other matter involving the Tax Administration.
The
people of Spanish nationality have a NIF number, which is their D.N.I.
number (Documento Nacional de Identidad). And people of a foreign nationality's
NIF number is their N.I.E. number (Número de Identificación
de Extranjeros), which is their Foreign Identification Number. The
paper work for both of these proceedings is carried out in the Local Police
Station.
The
Tax identification number is a legal requirement for all foreign property
owners in Spain. This identification number is necessary in order to receive
a bill or invoice when purchasing merchandise such as a car. It is also
required in order to pay taxes and to put all general utility bills of
your property in your name.
Necessary documents required from our clients in order
to apply for their Foreign Identification Number are the following:
Application form (signed
by client).
Notarised photocopy of your passport.
Power of Attorney.
We assure you that within no more than 60 days we shall have obtained your
NIE certificate from the Police Station.
